WHAT IS POST-REHAB FITNESS?
Post-rehabilitation is the development and implementation of fitness programming for clients with special population and post-rehab conditions. Post-rehab services can range from one session in a client’s home to establish a home program to a training program requiring two to three sessions per week.
Post-rehab professionals assess and develop exercise programs for clients with residual functional deficits remaining after the diagnosis and treatment of acute, subacute and chronic disease by Medical Doctors, Physical Therapist, and/or Chiropractors.
Post-rehab does not purport to provide any aspect of medical treatment of a client’s condition. Each client will complete a musculoskeletal and/or cardiovascular FITSCREEN prior to beginning any activity. The client will be sent back to their referring practitioner. If he or she demonstrates any of the following red flags:
- Radiating Pain
- Numbness/Tingling
- Chest Pain/Shortness of Breath
- Swelling
- Loss of Range of Motion
- Night Pain
- Open Wounds
Post-Rehabilitation training requires a clear understanding of fitness professional’s role when working with post-rehab clients. Clients should be properly screened to ensure their safety and the integrity of the program. Every client should be required to have a referral from a Physician, Physical Therapist or Chiropractor. The referral should indicate the client’s condition the requested services and expectations of duration and frequency of the post-rehab program. Post-rehab fitness services can help “Bridge the Gap Between Health Care and Fitness” by offering corporate employers and insurance companies a way to minimize risk through a combination of educational lectures and hands on conditioning courses. Our program can be designed to help minimize work related injuries and/or return employees to work at higher functional level following discharge from treatment by a licensed medical professional.
At Body Trainers fitness, we are here to help clients transitioning from medical care by Physician, Physical Therapist or Chiropractor into a conditioning program that will speed the healing process and improve their overall functional fitness. This type of training is designed to assist the individual return to optimal function after the acute and subacute phase of the medical treatment. Clients need a way to maintain, improve or minimize reoccurring injury by becoming actively involved in fitness/exercise program that specifically targets their individual needs. But how can they accomplish this on their own without risk of re-injury?
With our post rehabilitation program we can provide an exercise program that specifically addresses the need of the client. As a Medical Exercise Specialist and Professional Fitness Trainer we can target the clients conditioning need. What separates Body Trainers from the average personal trainer is the clinical knowledge of anatomy and pathology for medical conditions affecting the upper and lower extremity, spine, as well as cardiovascular and neurological conditions. We are a unique fitness service that can provide fitness and exercise programs to meet the individual medical needs of your clients.

in the long-term management of low back pain once the client is beyond
the acute and subacute stages.
Dynamic Back School program
consists of four to six 90-minute sessions over a 30-day period. Each
session begins with a 15-minute lecture on a low back related topic. 75
minutes of spinal stabilization, cardiovascular and strengthening
follows the short lecture. The back school format can easily accommodate
6-8 clients in a group training session. The back school concept is
